PEI...what you've all been waiting 2 months for

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR THE BABY. WE'LL FIND OUT TOMORROW!

These pictures are in not in chronological order...but at least I am finally getting around to posting about our trip. Sorry it's taken so long and it is jam packed with a mere fraction of the pictures we actually took while on our little vacation.

You can't go to PEI without visiting the Anne of Green Gables attractions. We didn't have time to do a lot in Cavendish, but here is where the story by Lucy Maud Montgomery began:

Her aunt and uncle's house is the inspiration for the story.

Danny gave us a lesson on milking a cow...

The haunted forest is just behind us in this picture. We took a little stroll down it.

Taking a walk down Lover's Lane

We found some great gems while looking through pictures and there were lots of never-before-seen pictures of Pete as a toddler. They are all of the same age, but at least it's more than the 4 that we currently have. This one was my favorites.

Pete's cousin's daughter, Jenny, and her husband, took us out on a lobster boat. It was a lot of fun.

The red sands on the PEI beach just below uncle Danny's property!

This is the edge of Pete's uncle Danny's property. Can you see the distinct line from the red sand going into the water?
You can see in this picture how the land is being swept down the cliffs. Danny always leaves a 2 foot space from the edge when mowing the lawn and there are spots where it looks like the cut grass goes right to the edge.

Danny and Bernice's house.

Netty giving us a ride on his 4-wheeler. He's never had a drivers license, so this is how he gets around the area.

Walking down to the beach from the house.

ON THE BEACH @ NORTH CAPE:

Bonjour, Mr. Crab
Apparently, this rock used to look like an elephant, but the erosion on the island is severe.

evidence of the constant 20+ mph breeze in my hair. It kinda felt like Idaho in that regard.

RANDOM SCENES:
This was the creepiest thing I saw the whole trip.

Watch out for GIANT MOOSE on the highways in New Brunswick! Once we got into Canada, all of the signs were in French and English.
SOME LIGHTHOUSES OF PEI:

North Cape
same one, just a view from the shore

West Point {turned into a hotel!}

Warren Cove Front {at Port La Joye}

Warren Cove Back {just behind the other one}

THE FAM: {we met quite a few cousins, but don't have pics}
Pete, uncle Louis, Connie {his wife}, and aunt Bernice
Bernice, Danny {her husband}, & Pierre

Netty {Danny's 80 year old bachelor brother} trying to touch his tongue to his nose!

I heard lots of stories about Netty being a ladies man {and saw the pics to prove it}. He was too fun to tease!

On the way back to the states, we stopped in Charlottetown, the capitol and went to the place where the Acadians established their settlement on the island in 1720.
Pete's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa, Michel Hache-Gallant {and family} was part of that first French settlement and one who refused to be kicked out by the British. They errected a memorial for him. Here it is, out on Port La Joye {later taken over and named Fort Amherst by the Brits}Of the 4,200 Frenchman in their colony, all but 1,100 {they hid in the woods} were deported. Most got sent back to France, but some went down to Lousianna--the Cajuns. Michel stuck around and they got pushed out to the swamps on the north west section of the island to fish while the Brits kept all of the good farming land. They got it a bit backwards though, because the "poor" kids went to school with lobster sandwiches while the "rich" kids went to school with Bologna sandwiches. Funny how it worked out, eh?

Well, I hope you enjoyed our little piece of PEI :0)

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun! I am kind of a nerd, but I love all the pictures of erosion (I love geology!)
I think the picture of Pete as a baby looks a lot like Jonas!
