Finally finished...and some firsts worth noting

Let's start with the firsts, shall we? Here is a sample of Jonas's first wall artwork. Isn't it a masterpiece? It can only be seen in person by appointment.
Title: Birds of Paradise, first edition
Medium: pencil
Artist: Jonas Gallant
NOT FOR SALEHis other first is calling someone on my phone. SOAP BOX ALERT! Why do phone companies make the unlock code so easy? I had one once that was 123. What kid would not automatically type in those numbers once they recognize them? My unlock right now is the OK button. Just push it twice. So, naturally, Jonas just pushes lots of buttons and multiple times. Well, he finally called my friend Donna not once, but twice before Pete caught him. Now, I understand that it shouldn't be some outlandish code, but come on people! The software developers must not have any kids. At least he hasn't dialed 911 yet. Now, even I did that...um...that's all I have to say about that.

On to my finally finished project: a tree skirt. So, I thought, "a circle will be too hard to figure out" so I made it into a hexagon. I sure thought it was going to be easier, but let's just say that I bought the fabric the day after Thanksgiving and it was completed on Thursday. I only bought 1/2 yard of the three fabrics, so I had to do a bit of patching to make it work {don't look too closely}. I didn't have any pattern, so I was making it up as I went along. Once I got the angle right, it wasn't too bad. My favorite part of the whole tree skirt is the brown JUMBO ric rac. I even had about 26 inches left of it, so YIPPEE! I get to use it in my scrapbook!

I don't think the pictures do it justice. You'll have to trust me that it looks cute and goes well with my brown/red decorations on my tree {see below}.

Here are some details of the tree/ornaments {good excuse to use the neato camera}. I painted the paper for the stars and cut them out. I stuffed the glass ornaments with cut and curled paper. I bought the red bead and pine cone garlands and jingle bell candy canes. Oh, and I made the start on top out of branches. Sorry, these are a bit late for posting, but I just had to.

My Nativity display {thanks mom!}

Well, Jonas has yet to tear down the tree {knock on wood}, but he LOVED playing in the box. I almost hated to put it away. We put up the tree the Monday after Thanksgiving. Here are some pics from the FHE festivities.

You are so darn crafty, Dana! Shoot! I'm very impressed with your tree and ALL your decor. And I'm uber impressed with your tree skirt; I cannot sew. (Well, I "can" but it looks SO homemade! In a bad way...)

Cute stuff!

I love the ornaments. I wish I could see the tree in person. I bet it's so cute. I bought my treeskirt after Christmas last year so I got it really cheap. I don't think I would atempt to make my own. Yours does look good though. Can't wait till Christmas so we can see you.
