WARNING: it's kinda long. This is what has been going on the past few weeks and what will be coming up!
We'll start off at Shiz University...
{Here you go, Gina!} Pete and I went to see WICKED at the Capitol Theatre in SLC. We were on the 6th row on the left side--yes, on the floor. It was awesome. We really loved it and Pete was especially excited to see a "real" production {as opposed to just a community one}. Going into it, I knew most of the music, which was fun, and I mostly knew the storyline from the first half, but I didn't realize it wove through the actual Wizard of Oz story in the second half. I was pleasantly surprised. It was fun not to know everything, though. This was our Mother's Day/Father's Day gifts to each other :0) So Happy Parent's Day to both of us!
Last Friday was my Children's Choir concert. They did a fabulous job and while I love them all, I am definitely excited for my "summer break" although I will still be teaching private voice lessons. Maybe I'll actually get some stuff done around the house with all the extra time I'll have ;0) Right! This picture is from the youngest group of the three choirs. There were 6 kids missing from this group {5 sick and 1 out of town} so there were only 12 there for the concert.

Tomorrow, Pete will officially graduate from ISU with a Master's degree in School Administration. I had to order his hood and tassel so that he would be committed to walk. He was determined not to and I was determined he would {mostly for my scrapbook's sake}. I'll take pictures of the event to post for all the family that can't come. Also, tomorrow night, we'll be going to the symphony to see Donna and have yummy dinner with her first. I "bought" the tickets and dinner from her at a RS service auction. Liz Seedall helped me win them, so we're splitting the goods.
We bought plane tickets to go back east and visit Prince Edward Island, Canada. For those of you who don't know where it is, here's a map.

For the Green Gables fans out there, you'll know this place well. We will definitely go see the sites from the show and say hello to Gilbert Blithe for you. Our flight leaves from SLC and we have stops in Houston {where Austin and Amy live--we'll get to see Amy and the kids during our layover} and New Jersey. Then from NJ to Portland, Maine, where we'll drive the rest of the way. Neither one of us has been to the east coast. I can't wait to dip my toes in the Atlantic! Pete went on a Church History tour back to Nauvoo, but that's as far as he's gone. I've only been as far east as Plano TX, just outside Dallas. We are going without Jonas {thanks mom} for 10 days!!! It will be fun. Then on the way back, we have a layover in NY for 2 hours {hopefully we can see a bit of it while we're there} and a stop in Mineapolis as well.
So why Prince Edward Island??? Some of you may be asking. Well, Pete's family line is from there. The Gallant family sailed from France to Canada in the mid 1600's and settled Prince Edward Island sometime after that. Pete's dad grew up speaking French on the island and would translate English to French at his Catholic church. He was the first from his family to leave the island when he was in 8th grade. Eventually he moved to the west coast in Canada {British Columbia} and then to Washington state. I don't need to give you a huge family history, but just in case someone was wondering, now you know. We are excited to go back and see lots of family history. Gallant is a VERY popular last name in the North East USA and Eastern Canada. And they'll actually pronounce it correctly. We'll take lots of pictures and I'll probably have to do more than one post on it. My sister in law {from Australia} said that she liked it more than New Zealand, so I am REALLY excited to see the place.
Other than that, I've just been making stuff for My Posh Baby Designs. Kristin and I have been on FIRE lately, making lots of new stuff.
I think I'll go out for a walk today since it doesn't seem like the wind will blow us over. Kudos to those of you who actually read through it all. You're true friends!

Sounds like you should have a wonderful trip! The east is so different from out here...I grew up in Pennsylvania, and have seen a lot of sites back there, although I have never been to Price Edward Island...
So lucky to be going on a trip kid-free! I'm jealous!
Way fun - such a busy summer all ready. Have fun with your travels!
Boo Yah! I read it! Yeah! I am so jealous of your wicked experience and that you are going back East!'
Well Done Pete! Proud friends are we!
Gina
So many fun things you've done and get to do...you go girl!
Your trip sounds fun; when are you leaving? -Yeah, the farthest east I've been (not counting Scotland) is Chicago. Can't wait to see pictures. :)
congratulations Pete!! That is a huge accomplishment. I will definetly be checking back for the Prince Edward Island update. Of course I have read all of the Anne of Green Gable Series at least twice. That is exciting to be able to take a trip back east and see everything. Some day we hope to do the same.
So what IS the proper way to pronounce Gallant? Have I been saying it wrong all this time?
Oh my how fun!! When are you going?? I have heard that area is beautiful! Have a blast!
Ah, Gilbert. :) Thanks, I knew you would! That really sounds like so much fun. I have heard it's beautiful there.
So jealous that you went to Wicked...and that you're going on a 10 day trip to a fabulous place.
Wow. Wicked! So jealous! It was a good book, and I love the music.
Sorry we missed the concert. I'm sure it was a huge success.
I am also jealous of P.E. Island! I am hoping to get Katie into Anne this summer. She can relate to the carrot colored hair!
Congrats to you guys on Pete's graduation! That is a huge accomplishment- for both of you!
Plus I clicked for you. I think that bike looks amazing! Good LUck!
Wow! It's really been a while since I've read your blog, anyone's for that matter. That is so cool. I loved this post, I feel like I learned so much. So when do you leave for your trip?
